Once upon a time (from Jan 2007 - June 2008) NOTCOT ran a site called TasteSpotting ~ which was a food version of NOTCOT.org. It was the first foodie site on our network, and it had a good run! But unfortunately we weren't able to continue it. This page is not at all a food site, but our little space to remember it as it once was.
There's a "Food Interviews" post interviewing Sarah Gim ~ just wanted to clarify things with regards to the involvement of NOTCOT, because the interview is quite misleading.
"
Speaking of changes, a few weeks ago, the food blogger community was shocked to find a note on the TasteSpotting site saying that NOTCOT would no longer be operating TasteSpotting. What happened?
Jean sold her interest in it to me. We were working through the usual business issues."
I did not in fact sell my interest to Sarah. Sarah was the founding editor for the beginning months of TasteSpotting's 18 month run, and was minimally involved for the last 6-12 months. NOTCOT Inc. sold her the domain and content, not the business/interest.
For the record, NOTCOT Inc, has not authorized any of the clones of the original TasteSpotting ~ foodgawker, serious eats photograzing, recipe muncher, veggie tastespotting, etc - including TasteSpotting itself, which has also closely copied the signature style of our network of sites (NOTCOT.org, NotCouture, Liqurious). The re-launch of TasteSpotting on June 27th is a new site (same domain and it seems like a filtered version of the old content) ~ which is in no way attached to NOTCOT Inc, the original TasteSpotting technology, or previous TasteSpotting Editors.
And honestly, we are currently the largest fans of
Food Gawker, which seems to have the closest kinship to the original TasteSpotting philosophy and tastes.
Here was how we once described it...
TasteSpotting.com - Feed your addiction.
TasteSpotting.com was launched January 2007, because designers get hungry too, and we are in awe of how delectable the finds on food blogs both look and taste! So, realizing that the passion of food lovers is often as intense as those who contribute to NOTCOT.org we've created this space for like minded people to descend upon and share what delicious dishes, posts, images, products, ingredients, etc. inspire their great tastes.
Launched with Sarah, of The Delicious Life and Slashfood, who loves food the way NOTCOT loves all things aesthetically enticing... We are thrilled to see how many people we can help to drool at their monitors on a daily basis!
